Other anti-slip floor treatments generally fall under two main categories: etching or topical coatings. Unlike our method, neither of these is approved by Environmental Health Departments.
Etching is a process which uses a very strong acid (hydrochloric acid, also called “muriatic acid,”) to achieve results. Hydrochloric acid is even stronger than battery acid (sulfuric acid). Just imagine pouring battery acid on your floors – who would do that?! Not surprisingly, etching works by eating into the floor’s surface. This type of product requires a separate neutralizing step before the product can be removed and discarded. Etching floors can also cause discoloration of both tiles and grout, a dull finish, and a filmy residue. Not only can the floor’s appearance be drastically altered, the damage to the floor’s surface can also lead to the accumulation of grime and become a breeding ground for bacteria and mold. This is why the process of etching is not an approved method by Environmental Health Departments.
Topical coatings such as anti-slip paints and films also can change the floor’s appearance and color to varying degrees. These coatings most often lead to problems of chipping, peeling or “bubbling.” The resulting floor irregularities can become unsafe and nearly impossible to effectively clean, once again allowing the buildup of grime, bacteria and mold beneath the product.
No Slip Ca uses a revolutionary enzymatic technology which maintains the color and appearance of treated floors while increasing the DCOF value of the floor by as much as 200-300% or more. Our treatment does not require a separate neutralizing step because it is rendered completely inert with cold water. We are the only Environmental Health Department approved and EPA friendly method. We are unique in that our treatment is suitable for use in food preparation areas and medical facilities.
